Ensygnia hires former Getty Images VP to accelerate growth

London, 29th July 2014: The Telefonica-backed UK mobile identity and payments innovator Ensygnia has hired Christian Toksvig in a global role as Chief Business Development Officer. Toksvig joins from Getty Images, where he served as global VP of Business Development.

International digital media executive takes up global business development role Brings experience of growing media and technology businesses across multiple territories

Ensygnia's patented Onescan solution stores users' personal information and uses a mobile app to trigger and authorise transactions over a secure, cloud-based authentication platform. For retailers, Onescan enables shoppers to complete a purchase in less than ten seconds whether online or in-store simply by scanning a specially designed Onescan Padlock code.

Toksvig has created and launched global media and technology brands across five continents. He brings to Ensygnia more than 17 years of international business development and operational experience in the media industry and has a strong track record of growing global digital media brands.

Prior to Getty Images, Toksvig was an Executive Vice President at Metro International, driving the successful launch of Metro in many markets across Europe, Latin America and Asia. Previously, he held senior management positions at Northern & Shell, where as publisher of OK! Magazine, he was responsible for the international roll-out of the title to 16 countries in four years.

"Onescan represents a long overdue solution to the pain of online shopping and identity management. It does away with the need to carry cards, remember passwords, and all the other things that put obstacles in the way of consumers. It will revolutionise the way we all manage, control and use our personal and financial information," said Toksvig.

"For me, it was literally a case of being hooked from the first time I met the Ensygnia team and saw the product.  I just knew I had to be part of it," he added.

Co-founder and Group CEO Richard H Harris said that Toksvig adds strength, knowledge and experience to the Ensygnia team.

"We're at an exciting stage of our development - on-boarding our first retail customers; entering alliances with global industry, financial and business partners; and opening operations in the USA and Asia.  Christian’s experience of building businesses on this scale and across this many fronts will be absolutely invaluable," said Harris.
